Got Multiple Toll Violations? Here's What You Can Do.

Traffic Toll Violations

You open your mailbox and there it is - not one toll violation, but five. Or ten. Maybe you just realized your transponder wasn't working. Maybe you bought a used car and the previous owner's tolls are now your problem. Maybe you drive the 408 every day and honestly forgot to reload your E-PASS account.

However it happened, you're staring at a stack of citations that add up to hundreds - sometimes thousands - of dollars.

You're not alone. Central Florida processes over 250,000 toll violation cases every year. The expressway system here is extensive, and it's remarkably easy to rack up violations without realizing it.

How Batch Violations Happen

Most people we help didn't set out to dodge tolls. They fell into one of these common situations:

None of these situations involve criminal intent. But the citation system doesn't know that. It just sees a license plate passing through without payment.

The Real Cost of Multiple Violations

A single toll might be $1 to $3. But a toll violation adds fees on top of fees:

How $2 Becomes $100+

  • Original toll: $2.00
  • Administrative fee: $25.00
  • Uniform traffic citation: $50.00+
  • Court costs if it goes to court: $100+

Multiply this by 10 or 20 violations and you're looking at serious money.

When violations stack up, the math gets ugly fast. That's why handling them all at once - rather than paying each one individually - often makes more sense.

What Actually Happens in Court

When someone pays a toll citation (either online or in person), the typical result is "adjudication withheld" - which means you paid the fine but technically weren't convicted. That's the standard outcome for most people who just want to make it go away.

But that's not the only possible outcome. Here's what the court records actually show:

With an Attorney

44,003 cases

Dismissed 21.9%
Adjudication Withheld 65.4%
Guilty 0.8%

Without an Attorney

139,773 cases

Dismissed 6.0%
Adjudication Withheld 93.4%
Guilty 0.6%

Without an attorney, the overwhelming majority of cases (93%) end with the person simply paying - adjudication withheld. With an attorney, more than 1 in 5 cases get dismissed entirely.

The gap widens with multiple violations. When defendants have several toll citations at once, attorneys achieve even better results. Batch cases give us more leverage to negotiate - prosecutors would rather resolve a stack of minor infractions efficiently than litigate each one individually.

What We Can Do

When someone comes to us with multiple toll violations, we're often able to get a much more favorable result than if they just paid each ticket individually.

Why? The court system isn't designed to prosecute people for forgetting to pay tolls. Prosecutors have actual crimes to deal with. When we approach them with a batch of toll violations and a reasonable client who wants to resolve the matter, there's room to negotiate.

What "Favorable" Looks Like

  • ✓ Multiple violations consolidated or dismissed
  • ✓ Reduced fines and court costs
  • ✓ No conviction on your record
  • ✓ One court appearance (by us, not you)

Every case is different. Some people get most of their violations dismissed entirely. Others get reduced fines. The outcome depends on your specific situation - how many violations, what evidence exists, whether you have documentation for transponder issues or vehicle transfers.

You Don't Have to Go to Court

One of the biggest benefits of hiring an attorney for toll violations: you don't have to take time off work.

We handle the court appearance for you. We negotiate with the prosecutor's office. We get everything sorted out and let you know the result.

For many people, that alone is worth the attorney fee - avoiding a day sitting in traffic court waiting for your case to be called.

When to Call

The best time to call is as soon as you realize you have multiple toll violations. The longer citations sit, the more fees accumulate and the more complicated resolution becomes.

That said, it's rarely "too late." Even if you've been ignoring the notices for months, there are usually options. Give us a call and we'll look at what you're dealing with.

Free consultations. We'll review your violations, explain your options, and give you a realistic picture of what we can do. No pressure, no obligation.
